Details

This set of six fine detail maps covering the Marjorca and Homebush goldfields in Victoria include the surrounding areas of Lamplough, Bung Bong, Snake Hill, Adelaide Lead, Dunach and Red Lion. They have been compiled from extensive research of early survey maps, reports and other Mines Department records, contemporary newspaper articles, interviews with local identities and personal observation. These maps highlight the difference between private and public land regardless of whether it is forested or not. Also on these maps are current roads, bush tracks, dams, houses (not sheds), alluvial gold workings, reef mines and places of historic interest. The author has driven down the roads shown on these maps. Whilst compiling this set of maps over 40 place names that have not been on other published maps have been identified and included here. The north arrows on maps show magnetic north. Virtually all of the area covered by these maps was burnt in the 1985 bushfire and much of this forest now has very thick undergrowth. Be warned, bush tracks and sometimes even their names are subject to change. A number of the tracks shown as broken lines on the maps are not suitable for 2 wheel drive vehicles in all seasons. Weila Publishing accepts no liability as to the inaccuracy of these maps. Permission for some activities or even access may be required for some public land.
